Welcome To
Swift Creek Mill Theatre
Theatre. History. Dining.
Do it at all and more at The Mill.
We are a not-for-profit theatre and restaurant housed within a historic gristmill. We are on a mission to provide Central and Southside Virginia with accessible, professional theatre.

Today, we share something important with you - and we wanted you to hear it from us directly.
After more than 60 years of professional theatre, dining, and community in the heart of Chesterfield, the Board of Directors of Swift Creek Mill Theatre has made the difficult decision to
pause operations, effective May 9, 2026.
This is not a decision we made easily, and it is not the end of the story. The Board is committed to a thoughtful, honest assessment of how Swift Creek Mill Theatre can build a sustainable future — one worthy of the legacy you've helped us create. A formal decision on the path forward will be made at our August board meeting.
Our youth production of The Elves and the Shoemaker continues as planned. And before we go quiet, we want to see you — final performances of Pump Boys and Dinettes this week, our Wine Dinner on April 30, and the Cabaret If I Sing on May 8 & 9 are still ahead.
Patrons with questions about tickets, gift cards, flex passes, and dining tickets have three options now - hold, donate, or request a refund — with a fourth option in the works. Full details at swiftcreekmill.com.
To our patrons, our donors, our volunteers, and every person who has ever walked through our doors: thank you. Sixty years of this community's support has meant everything.
We hope this is not goodbye — just see you soon.
I am the President of the Board of Directors of Swift Creek Mill Theatre, and I want to speak to you directly.
Your questions are fair. Your feelings are valid. And I want you to know - we hear every single one of you.
We have the best staff, the most dedicated artists, and the most loyal patrons of any theatre I know. That is not lost on us. Not for a single moment.
What I can tell you honestly is this: what we are facing is not just an immediate financial challenge. It is a deeper, structural one and if we don't address it at its root, any short-term solution will not hold. The Board is committed to doing this the right way, even when the right way is the hard way.
I won't pretend I have all the answers today. To do so would be to shortchange the very process that gives this theatre its best chance. But I will promise you this: we will be honest with you, we
will keep you informed, and we will leave no stone unturned.
We are optimistic. We are working. And we are so grateful that you love this place as much as we do.
Please visit swiftcreekmill.com for answers to the most common questions, including what happens to your tickets and how you can help.
With gratitude and hope,
Cathy

March 28 - April 25, 2026
THANK YOU!
Thank you to all who helped support our second annual Share in the Limelight Gala on November 1st. We could not have pulled the event off without help from our generous sponsors, those who donated auction items, the incredible committee who planned it all, our volunteers, and most importantly, the incredible patrons who came out to help launch the next 60 years of live professional theatre in south central Virginia.
We were able to nearly double our net proceeds from last year. This year, our estimated net will be $84,000.
Save the Date!
