"Transiție" by Abraham Sprinkle
Transiție (from Romanian transition) is a collection of works by Abraham Sprinkle, created between 2019 and 2023.
The collection documents the artist's exploration of a new medium, on new territory in a pre/post-pandemic society (Sprinkle has moved from New York, settled in, and found new inspiration in the Chesapeake Bay area).
Artist outlines transition as an essential period in one's path, a state of mind in which we bring everything we learned to the table, reflect, rearrange, and apply it to the future.
"It is much-needed time to recharge. Like in airports, where most of us spend time between points A and B, life continues and might take an exciting turn. The point is not to waste it."
The works are organized in sets/series (Blue Transition, Garden Transition, Turkish Transition, Nomadic Transition, etc.) and correspond to the dates they were conceived.
Born in Las Vegas, Sprinkle has built a career internationally and domestically, lending his creative services to major color companies and becoming a successful makeup artist represented by Next and Kate Ryan management.
Sprinkle's advanced training at the prestige Vidal Sassoon Academy in London, UK, has led to extensive teaching in Academies across Europe and North America. Hair and makeup talents have been featured in print/online magazines such as Vogue, Nylon, Glamour, Elle, and in visual media/film productions from SHOWstudio (https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=f3197ce397316cd0JmltdHM9MTY4NDEwODgwMCZpZ3VpZD0zZDUxNzk0ZS1kYWZmLTYyMjctMDliMi02YmUwZGIwMjYzYWEmaW5zaWQ9NTE4OQ&ptn=3&hsh=3&fclid=3d51794e-daff-6227-09b2-6be0db0263aa&psq=Show+Studio&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly9zaG93c3R1ZGlvLmNvbS8&ntb=1), Sony Pictures Classics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Pictures_Classics), and others.
International experience as a color director has trained Sprinkle in theory, the knowledge he mastered and applied to the craft. The world of fashion has taught Sprinkle how to work with imperfect canvas.
Fusing the two experiences has resulted in a unique approach to painting.
Canvas has changed but the technique has not; Sprinkle still works with makeup brushes, using the trained eye for palette choices.
Crediting multicultural New York as "the greatest influence", Sprinkle's work is forged by diverse interactions, introducing an artist who expresses in all the imaginable colors.
Abraham Sprinkle is honing his skills at the studio near the Chesapeake Bay, always inspired by nature, in the company of the 13-year-old Shih Tzu.
There is no fee to view the artwork for theatre or dining patrons. The fine art will hang on the walls of the Historic Mill Room through July 9th, 2023. Abraham Sprinkle is an American artist hailing from Virginia. ☯
