From the Artist
Hey! My name is Amanda, and I draw pictures for fun and profit. I'm 25 years old and currently reside in Lancaster, PA, where I just received a shiny new BFA in illustration from Pennsylvania College of Art & Design. I love vegan cupcakes and baby animals and I hate it when people shuffle aimlessly in front of you while you're trying to walk someplace.
My work runs the gamut material-wise; my weapons of choice are ink and watercolor, but I also work digitally, and on occasion will break out gouache, acrylics, colored pencil, pastel, and graphite. In terms of subject matter, I straddle the line between the cute and the creepy. I love both, and try to meld them together into one oddly whimsical fusion genre when I can. If you sit me down in front of a blank sheet of paper and tell me to draw, I will probably make you a pudgy girl in cute underwear, possibly with a cat on her head, because that, apparently, is how I roll.
At this point in my career as a fledgling illustrator, I've done work for a few companies, taken part in the creation of 3 murals around Lancaster city, done some commissioned pieces for individuals, and in 2007 I was accepted into the Society of Illustrators student competition. Not too shabby so far, I think. Onward and upward!
